Funeral & Direct Cremation questions
Every question is welcome.
You do not have to know the language or understand the process. Here are some of the things families ask us most often.

15 questions
What is a direct cremation?
A direct cremation takes place without a funeral ceremony or attendance at the crematorium. Your family can choose to gather separately, in your own way and when you feel ready.
What does direct cremation cost?
Our current advertised starting price is $2,595 AUD. Additional charges may apply, including weekend and public holiday transfers. We’ll confirm the arrangements, inclusions and total in a written quote. See pricing guidance.
Can we meet you at home?
Yes. We can arrange a personal meeting at your home by appointment. Let us know what feels comfortable and who you would like involved.
Can we call at any time?
Yes. Our phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Funeral arrangements are by appointment, with home visits available.
Do you help families in my area?
We care for families across Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle. Sydney coverage extends from Brooklyn to Penrith and Sutherland. Please call to confirm the location and any transfer costs.
Can we have a memorial after direct cremation?
Yes. A direct cremation gives you the option to remember your loved one at a later gathering. We can talk about a memorial or celebration of life that feels personal to your family.
How are ashes returned?
We will discuss the return of your loved one’s ashes with you and confirm the arrangements. Please tell us if you have preferences for an urn or a later memorial.
What should I have ready for our first conversation?
You can call before you have everything organised. It helps to tell us your name, a contact number, where your loved one is and any wishes already discussed. We will explain any documents needed for the next step.
Do you arrange burials?
Yes. We can discuss a burial, including your preferred cemetery, any existing burial arrangements and the kind of ceremony you have in mind. Cemetery and other third-party charges will be confirmed in your quote.
Can I plan ahead without paying now?
You can start by discussing and recording your wishes. Preplanning and prepayment are different decisions. We can explain the choices and provide the relevant terms before you decide.
Can the service reflect our beliefs and traditions?
Please tell us about any cultural, religious or personal wishes that matter to you. We will discuss how those wishes can be included and confirm what is possible with your chosen venue.
Do I need to decide everything straight away?
Your first call can simply be a conversation. We will explain what needs attention now and which decisions can follow, taking account of your circumstances.
Can we choose an urn, flowers or printed tributes?
Yes. Discuss urns, floral arrangements, service booklets, memorial bookmarks and slideshows with our team. Your quote will distinguish included items from optional extras. Explore personal touches.
Can we arrange a private viewing?
Please speak with us about a private viewing, dressing or witnessing a cremation. These require separate arrangements and are not part of a standard Direct Cremation. Venue, timing and fees must be confirmed.
Do you cover Newcastle and Lake Macquarie?
Yes. Our service area extends north to Newcastle and includes Lake Macquarie. Call with your suburb so we can confirm the transfer, venue arrangements and costs. See local information.
